NIAGARA FALLS, NY – Palliative Home Care of Niagara (PHCN) proudly announces its award of accreditation status by the Accreditation Commission for Health Care, Inc. (ACHC) for the service of durable medical equipment (DME). DME services include oxygen, ambulatory and bathroom aids, hospital beds, wheelchairs and emergency response systems.
ACHC, a private, not-for-profit corporation which is certified to ISO 9001:2000 standards, was developed by home care and community-based providers to help companies improve business operations and quality of patient care. Referring to the value of accreditation, ACHC President Tom Cesar indicated, “The survey process leads an organization to examine its policies and practices continually to clarify its strengths and improve its weaknesses.”
By attaining accreditation, PHCN has demonstrated its commitment to maintain a higher level of competency and strive for excellence in its products, services and customer satisfaction. PHCN Director of Home Care Services Raymond Geiser said: “Receiving approval for accreditation from ACHC was a major milestone for our organization. It was a project all our staff worked diligently on and we are very proud of the results.”
Accreditation is a voluntary activity where healthcare organizations submit to a peer review of their internal policies, processes and patient care delivery against national standards. Geiser further stated, “Receiving accreditation also provides our patients and clients the comfort of knowing they have partnered with a company that is committed to serving patients first by doing things the right way, and always acting with their best interests in mind.”
Since its incorporation in 2002, PHCN has offered value added service to chronically ill patients through specialized training of staff in how to best meet the special needs of individuals with serious illness, and their families. In addition to DME services, the agency also provides Home Health Aide and Homemaker services to qualified individuals. PHCN serves most counties of Western New York with major concentration in Niagara and Erie Counties. The organization currently employs 75 individuals. Offices are located on Liberty Drive in Niagara Falls.
